Quilting, Computers, and the Internet

If you were thinking this lecture is just for those who use computer-quilting programs, your data file is corrupted (that means, "think again!")...This is a lecture about we are using computers to communicate with other quilters, shop, obtaining solutions to quilting problems , making new friends, finding out about resources, and on and on. Nancy explores all of the places you can go, things you can use to help you do your craft better, and ways you can protect yourself when you use the internet to shop and communicate. Not just for computer junkies, this is a lecture about what is happening. There will be quilts too...quilts that were created as a part of on-line swaps, quilts that were researched on line, and quilts that were created by using some aspect of computing.

Finish with a Punch: a Look at Borders and the Difference They Make

When the blocks are together and you’re ready to put the finishing touches on a quilt, do you ever wonder if a pieced border would make the quilt brighter or feel more complete? When you are designing your quilts, does the border become a question mark? This lecture explores borders and the difference they make in the planning and finishing of quilts. Nancy shows slides as she explores the aspects of borders that come into play, and then she shows a wide variety of quilts. Some are her successes, and some are not... Nancy shares the ones that didn’t work so you can learn from her mistakes... This is an informative, quilt-filled lecture that will leave you itching to make that next beauty!

A Quilters Journey: Why do I always approach my quilts a little differently?...

Nancy will provide a trunk show along with a discussion of the many times she has chosen to take the alternate path when creating her quilts...An avid quilter who doesn’t have a "style" but loves to try different techniques, some approaches have worked well, and some have not. Nancy will tell the stories and share her quilts in this fun, sometimes silly exploration of a quilters journey.
